We are pleased to share that our annual satellite World AIDS Day commemoration programmes were successfully conducted at our Nakambala Estates in Mazabuka on November 20.
During this year’s event, our Managing Director, Mr. Oswald Magwenzi, highlighted Zambia Sugar Plc’s significant progress in reducing the HIV prevalence rate to around 10%, a remarkable improvement from over 21% in 2000.
“We continue to implement robust HIV/AIDS prevention programmes, ensuring that our people access critical information on prevention measures, antiretroviral therapy, and mother-to-child healthcare services. From a record prevalence rate of over 21% in 2000, we are now recording rates below the national average of 11%. This underscores the effectiveness of our efforts, though we recognize that more work lies ahead to close the gap and achieve zero prevalence.”
Mr. Magwenzi reaffirmed Zambia Sugar’s commitment to complementing government efforts through integrated healthcare services and sustained investments in quality healthcare.
The World AIDS Day satellite commemoration at Nakambala Estate, held under the theme “People First, Taking the Rights Way,” reflects our unwavering dedication to the fight against HIV/AIDS. Since 2005, we have implemented interventions that address the pandemic, highlighting our commitment to prevention and care.
Together, we stand with our community, fighting HIV/AIDS for a healthier tomorrow.
